How do I submit a paper to a Maney journal?

The first step is to view the Notes for Contributors for

the journal to which you wish to submit using the menu opposite.

The Notes for Contributors will tell you if the journal has an online submission, tracking and refereeing system to which you can submit. If it does, you will be able to link directly through to this. A list of journals which have online submission and refereeing systems is also provided below. You will be taken to a Welcome Page, which has links to useful tutorials; guidance on how to register to submit your paper; and email addresses should you need help with your submission.

For all journals, and especially those without an online submission and refereeing system, please be sure to review the Notes for Contributors carefully since each journal will have slightly different procedures. These Notes will tell you how and where to submit your paper; the type of contributions accepted; and important information on style and layout.

All Maney journals accept and welcome submissions electronically as this speeds up processing time. However, please note that it greatly assists our editors and accelerates publication if authors ensure that the Notes for Contributors and submission procedures are followed carefully.

If you have any queries, there are email and address details for editorial staff to contact for assistance. These are usually listed at the top and bottom of the Notes for Contributors.

How do I know if my paper is suitable for submission?

Firstly, please be sure to read the Aims and Scope of each journal. These outline the subject area coverage and type of material included. These are detailed in the introductions on each journal's homepage (select the homepage of the journal you wish to submit to by clicking on the Browse Journals link). If you are in doubt as to whether the subject of your paper is appropriate, please contact the Editor directly to discuss the outline of your paper, or look at the Notes for Contributors (see the menu opposite) for further information. The Notes for Contributors also provide details of the type of papers accepted, and whether, for example, reviews or longer papers are encouraged.

You may also find it useful to look at the tables of contents and abstracts of recent issues online to see the kind of material published previously. A full list of the journals available online, with links, is available here

How will the online submission, tracking and refereeing system benefit me?

This system allows much easier coordination of the administration involved in the submission and refereeing procedures which ultimately means that an author's submission and correspondence can be more speedily and easily followed up.

§ Registering to use the system is quick and simple

§ Processing submissions will be significantly faster

§ Online author 'Help' facilities are available, together with links to the online Notes for

      Contributors

§ A wide range of file formats are accepted

§ Authors can submit revised manuscripts without having to enter all original files or contact data

      again

§ Revised versions of the manuscripts are easily identifiable by a different code

§ Pre-determined article types can be stipulated within the selection menu so that it is clear if the

author has submitted an original  paper, case report, review etc.

§ One single PDF file is created from all the submitted source files (text, tables and illustrations),

which the author checks before final submission

§ Authors can access the system at any time to check the status of their papers, saving the need

to contact the Editor to find out progress

Please note, however, that even journals which do not use a formal online submission, tracking and refereeing system still have rigorous, efficient peer review processes in place and will make every effort to keep authors informed on progress with their submissions.

Are Maney journals peer reviewed?

Yes. The peer review process is rigorously maintained and an integral part of the evaluation of submissions. Maney journals have international editorial boards and contact with external experts to assist in this process. Further information on the specific features of the refereeing procedures for each journal is available via its Notes for Contributors (see menu above).

From the homepage for each journal you can ascertain:

§ Subscription information

§ Links to the online version of the journal

§ Abstracting and indexing information

This is detailed on the homepage for each journal. You are also welcome to suggest A&I

services that you feel would benefit from including a Maney journal: please contact the

      relevant Managing Editor with details.

§ Links to parent societies and other relevant organisations

§ Links to similar publications from Maney

§ Library Recommendation Form, to enable you to recommend the journal to your library, if it

does not currently hold a subscription
