Grain Boundaries

The papers in this volume were presented at a two-day workshop on grain boundaries held at the University of Birmingham to mark both the opening of the new University Centre for Electron Microscopy and the 70th birthday of Professor R. E. Smallman. The workshop demonstrated the wide-ranging importance of grain boundaries and interfaces in a variety of materials including structural metals and ceramics, magnetic and electronic materials.
