04 October - Top historians turn out for launch of new book on Henry VIII’s wardrobe.

The new book Dress at the Court of King Henry VIII by Dr Maria Hayward was launched in style last week (Thursday 27th September) at a reception at The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, Carlton House Terrace, London. Dr David Starkey, colleague and former tutor of Dr Hayward, gave a warm and entertaining speech regaling his own experiences in history broadcasting, and praising Dr Hayward’s meticulously researched book.

03 October - The prize for the Journal of Orthodontics Scientific Paper of the Year was awarded at the British Orthodontic Conference in Harrogate on Monday 24th September.

Philip Benson accepted the prize for the paper 'Decontamination of orthodontic bands following size determination and cleaning' written with C. W. I. Douglas. The authors received a prize fund of £750 awarded by Maney Publishing along with a certificate of their achievement.
