1. All contributions (except book reviews and review articles) should be sent in electronic format, preferably in Microsoft Word, to the Editor, Nicola Avery, by email to: nicola.avery@cityoflondon.gov.uk. Authors wishing to correspond with the Editor are also welcome to do so by e-mail. Reviews and review articles should be sent to the Review Editor, Dr Alastair Owens, Department of Geography, Queen Mary, University of London, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS.
2. Contributions should be typed, with double spacing and ample margins, and should include the total number of words submitted and the postal address to which all communication should be directed. Footnotes, also double spaced, should be numbered consecutively and grouped together at the end of the typescript. Authors' MSS cannot be returned unless the appropriate postage is included.
3. Articles which embody the results of detailed original research should devote some attention to the more general significance of the subject matter. The readership includes not only specialists in a range of different disciplines, but also many non-specialist readers.
4. A well as original articles, the LONDON JOURNAL publishes notes and comments, viewpoint and review articles, and general surveys of particular aspects of London life.
5. Articles should normally not exceed 8000 words in length. Shorter communications will be welcomed.
6. Illustrations of all types - photographs, line drawings, maps - are particularly welcomed. They should be used wherever they contribute to the subject matter of the article.
7. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their articles do not infringe copyright, and should make every effort to secure any necessary permissions in writing. Submission of a paper implies an undertaking by the author that the article is not being, or has not been, submitted to any other journal.
8. Contributors of articles will receive 10 complimentary offprints. Further copies may be ordered from the publishers.
9. Potential contributors are urged to obtain from the Editor more detailed 'Notes for Contributors' giving details of preferred styles
