PRESS RELEASE

Leeds, UK

Maney Publishing to publish

Seventeenth-Century French Studies

Maney Publishing has announced it is to take on the publication of Seventeenth-Century French Studies (SCFS) on behalf of the Society for Seventeenth-Century French Studies from 2007.

SCFS enhances Maney's already extensive list of modern language journals and monographs.

Michael Gallico, Managing Director of Maney Publishing, is pleased that the Society has chosen Maney to continue the publication: “We are delighted to be able to announce this partnership with the Society for Seventeenth-Century French Studies, and anticipate a strong relationship in the development of this interesting and individual journal.”

The journal's Editor, Dr Amy Wygant of the University of Glasgow, said: "The Society for Seventeenth-Century French Studies, Britain's oldest specialist society in French, is very pleased to be working with Maney Publishing. We look forward to building on our journal's reputation for solid and leading-edge research in the new-look print and on-line versions, and anticipate an exciting future for this internationally-based journal.”

This annual journal first appeared in 1979, publishing articles in English and French on a broad range of literary, cultural, historical and theoretical topics relating to early modern France. Providing a unique forum for scholarship on the great seventeenth-century French classics, it was encouraged and supported by its first president, Roy C Knight.

The journal's interdisciplinary scope has since widened to include the full range of modern literary, musical, artistic, political and material concerns. Past issues have included studies of gender, iconography, body criticism, economics, history of costume and the poetics of memory. Recent highlights include John Lyons on Lafayette and gemology, Wendy Perkins on women and silence, Peter Bayley in the education of princes, and Matt Senior on anatomy at the Jardin du roi.

SCFS welcomes submissions from both established figures and young researchers. For more information, please visit www.maney.co.uk/journals/c17.
