Tuesday, 16 January 2007 Leeds, UK PRESS RELEASE
Maney Publishing to publish Exemplaria journal
Maney Publishing has announced it is to publish Exemplaria: A Journal of Theory in Medieval and Renaissance Studies on behalf of the University of Florida from 2007.
First published in 1989, Exemplaria has become one of the most consistently interesting and challenging journals devoted to medieval and Renaissance studies. Its scope includes Chaucer, women, history and literature, rhetoric, Jewish medieval studies and literary theory, and provides a forum to different approaches to the study of the medieval and Renaissance periods.
The Times Literary Supplement recently reviewed Exemplaria as a journal that “breaks into new territory, while never compromising on scholarly quality.”
Michael Gallico, Managing Director of Maney Publishing, welcomes the acquisition: “Exemplaria is already a well established and highly regarded journal which will be an asset to our existing humanities list. We also welcome the journal into the Maney Online Research E-journals collection, and look forward to further developing its presence both in print and online.”
For the first time the frequency will increase to three issues a year. The 2007 volume will include a special issue on “Movie Medievalism”, with articles by Tom Shippey and Richard Burtt, and an issue that honours the diverse contribution that Sheila Delaney has made to both the subject and Exemplaria.
About the Editor The editor of Exemplaria is R. Allen Shoaf (PhD Cornell, 1977) who is a former Marshall Scholar and Danforth Fellow, and recipient of two Fellowships of the National Endowment for the Humanities. He is the author of Shakespeare's Theater of Likeness amongst many other books and articles, and has also won six teaching awards in the past 20 years. He is currently continuing his study of the rhetoric of likeness in early modern English literature.
