| PRESS RELEASE 06 November 2007, Leeds, UK
Maney Publishing to publish American Name Society journal
Maney Publishing is to undertake publication of Names: A Journal of Onomastics on behalf of the American Name Society (ANS) from 2008.
Names is one of the world's leading onomastic journals and, since the first issue in 1952, has published articles, reviews, and notes on aspects of name study such as literary onomastics, personal names, placenames and names of organizations.
The incoming Editor for 2008 is Professor Frank Nuessel, University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA: “Maney's experience in working on society journals was key in our decision to entrust the publishing of Names to them. I am sure the journal will thrive through this new partnership and am excited about the opportunities for growth in the European onomastics community that this will bring.”
Mark Simon, Publishing Director at Maney Publishing, welcomes the journal: “Names is an excellent addition to our humanities list, complementing our social history titles and expanding our list in the field of linguistics. We are greatly looking forward to working with the American Name Society to build on the journal's reputation for new research in this fascinating field.”
This new partnership with the ANS comes as Maney announces the appointment of Kimberly Martin as Executive Publisher in the US, who will build on Maney's reputation for society publishing in the States. Editors and societies in the US who would like to talk to Kimberly about publishing with Maney can email her at k.martin@maneyusa.com.
