| PRESS RELEASE 07 May 2008, Leeds, UK
Slavonica journal celebrates 25 years of publication
Slavonica, one of the leading journals in Slavonic and Russian studies, marks its 25th anniversary in 2008 with an Editorial looking back over some of the journal's highlights.
The first issue, then titled Scottish Slavonic Review, was published in March 1983 as a combined effort of Slavists living and working in Scotland who recognized the need for a journal reflecting the cultural ties between the Scots and the Slavs, and the long tradition of Slavonic/Russian studies in Scotland. The first issues of the journal were printed from camera-ready copy and were produced on typewriters in 14 different languages.
Slavonica has been published by Maney since Volume 9. The Editor, Jekaterina Young, University of Manchester, UK, has seen Slavonica become “a truly international journal, attracting contributions by leading and up-and-coming scholars the world over. As it enters its second quarter-century, Slavonica continues both to reflect and to shape the changing landscape of research in Russian, Slavonic and East European Studies.”
The Editorial for Volume 14, number 1 is available to download free at www.ingentaconnect.com/content/maney/sla
